We are blessed to be a gallery in London working with such wonderful artists. Just recently we had the privilege to show Meg Abott’s beautiful line drawings in our Art in Mind exhibition. Meg is a London based artist working with brush ink and watercolour painting mostly nudes and portraits inspired by friends, strangers and statues.
Her elegant line drawings reduce forms to a single, fluid outline, focusing on the rhythmic shapes of faces and bodies. The single colour drawings set against the white background are the epitome of grace and harmony. More recently, Meg has also moved into ceramic work, with the delicacy of line enhanced by the delicacy of the medium itself.
“I fell in love with line drawing after studying the sketches of Picasso and Giacometti, whose loose, free lines abandon the idea of perfection and instead focus on impressions and free movement. The shapes of the female nude lends itself perfectly to this practice, and has become my main focus along with characterful faces – whether it’s one from a crowd, a film or the cover of a book”.
