Fundraising Art Auction for Shine Fostering 22nd November

We are excited to announce we will be this years host for the annual Shine Fostering fundraising art auction event on Friday 22nd November. The BBC news reporter and speaker Ashley John-Baptiste will be the guest of honour speaking about his journey through the care system.

You can also bid online here – https://fundraising-auctions.bid/auction/Shine/SHINE-Fostering

The evening is a celebration of children in the care system. All funds raised will go towards our foster children so that that can take part in an array of activities, including going on an annual holiday.

We have art work from a variety of artists, who have chosen pieces relating to our theme ‘making memories’.

Contributing Artists

Amymay George @liquidwonderment

Amymay George is an artist currently in her third year of BA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins. Her practice predominantly takes the form of painting as she paints subconsciousness streams of thought that refer to prominent memory.

Katherine Jones www.katherine-jones.co.uk

Katherine Jones is an artist who works in painting, installation, book arts and printmaking. She combines traditional forms of intaglio and relief print namely etching, collagraph and block-print to produce her distinctive images.

Marcus Nelson @marcus___nelson

Marcus Nelson is a London based artist, whose practice interrogates modern society through recurring characters and narratives. His often cartoonish imagery can create dark and uncomfortable scenes that fit into a wider social commentary around masculinity and British identity.

Nujoud Oweis @nujoudoweis

As a designer, Nujoud has always been inspired by two main themes that are constantly recognised in her work. The first being childhood memories and family treasures, and the second being tactility.

Corbin Shaw @corbinsshaw

Corbin’s work explores the performance of masculinity in heteronormative spaces dominated by men. He makes work from his own personal experiences growing up in spaces such as football grounds, boxing gyms, and his dad’s metal fabrication workplace.

You can find out more about the artists, their artwork and make a bid ahead of the live event via the auction link below.
