Welcome to the first solo show of 5-year-old artist, Arabella Stell from Oxford.

She will be exhibiting her original artwork at The Brick Lane Gallery from the 7 – 11th July. Arabella has been drawing and painting from the age of 2 and has already won awards such as the M&S Children’s Art Competition and has even been selected for the online exhibition of Royal Academy of Arts Young Artists Summer Show. This young, self-taught artist creates from the comfort of her kitchen using acrylic and oil paint on canvas. She works in both imaginative and figurative styles.

Arabella, regardless of her age, has already been inspired by the world around her. Her first series was created during and was informed by the first lockdown we all experienced here in the UK. Her second series was heavily inspired by her love for literature of all genres including history, the Christian Bible and Greek mythology. Her third series was created as a reaction to the turbulent violence that’s ensued between Israel and Palestine. According to her mother, “This exhibition is a celebration of Arabella’s rebirth into life after the prolonged lockdown” while also being a “celebration of the magnificent resilience of our shared humanity in times of trouble and hardship, regardless of age, race or gender”.
