ART IN MIND &
LANDSCAPE ART

23rd April – 4th May
Preview – Wednesday 23rd April 6 – 8.30pm

Our Art in Mind & Landscape Art exhibition explores the connection between the external world and our human experiences, examining how landscapes – both real and imagined – and other artistic expressions shape emotion, memory, and perception.

By blurring the boundaries between physical terrain and mental spaces, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on how our environments, both seen and felt, influence our inner worlds. Through a diverse range of artwork, the exhibition offers a thoughtful meditation on the complex interplay between place, memory, and human consciousness.

A Word From The Artist:

‘I was a psychologist working with surgeons. I am now a painter with an MA and an MFA in Painting from the Manchester School of Art. I have shown my work in various venues, and most recently my paintings are on display as posters in the London Underground. I sell my work through Saatchi Art.

I paint everyday high up in my studio in a Victorian industrial mill. I can see for miles, from Manchester skyscrapers to the Pennine Hills. Above all there is a huge sky, constantly shifting and changing, with flocks of birds wheeling in the wind. My studio is full of light. My work is influenced by both my careers. I paint in oils and love their intense vibrancy. I have witnessed too much darkness, and I understand the emotional impact of colour and light. I express my optimism through my work.’

ISLE DONDERS
@donderskop

Ilse Donders (b. Belgium) is a self-taught artist based in Belgium. She studied General Arts at the Provincial Art High School in Hasselt and later practised independently. Her work focuses on the exploration of raw emotion through expressive sculpted clay heads, painted with acrylic and sealed with varnish to enhance depth and contrast.

This exhibition marks her first official gallery show, presenting a collection that delves into the complexities of human expression and distortion. While she has not yet participated in competitions or artist residencies, her passion for sculpting and storytelling continues to evolve, driven by an intuitive and experimental approach to materials and form.

A Word From The Artist:

‘I create expressive clay heads where faces and emotions take center stage. Each piece tells a story of inner feelings and human distortions. By painting the clay with acrylic paint, I add depth and contrast, revealing a mix of conflicting emotions. My style is expressive and unique, focusing on evoking a sense of recognition or stillness in the viewer. Working with clay gives me a sense of freedom and fulfillment – it feels like a direct connection to the core of creativity. I enjoy using my art to spark a dialogue about what makes us human.’

OUTLINED BY EARNSHAW

Outlined by Earnshaw is built on the art of storytelling – capturing memories, places, and emotions through intricate illustrations and bold, abstract paintings. With a background in architecture, the work balances structure and sentiment, using clean lines and bold compositions to bring memories to life. Each piece transforms meaningful experiences into visually compelling, deeply personal artworks.

The Everyday Moments collection (shown here) shifts from personal commissions to universal experiences, celebrating the small rituals that connect us all. From pints with friends to the first Pimm’s of the summer, this collection invites viewers to see their own stories reflected in the artwork, making each piece feel both intimate and widely relatable.
