4th – 15th June
Preview – Wednesday 4th June 6 – 8.30pm

Our Contemporary Painting & Art in Mind exhibition explores the themes of place, memory, movement and emotion. Through diverse practises and perspectives, the artists delve into ideas of connection, solitude, lights and transofrmation. Rooted in intuition and personal experience, the works reflect a shared search for meaning in the everyday and the unseen – inviting contemplation of our inner landscapes as much as the world around us.

Open:
10am – 6pm Monday to Saturday

A Word From The Artist:

‘My previous career as a psychologist working with plastic surgeons was focussed with the physical and psychological impact of disfiguring injury. I witnessed trauma, but also saw strength and resilience. I then gained an MA and MFA in painting at the Manchester School of Art .In my work here, the colour and light reflect my optimism that despite overwhelming odds, the tide flows, the little house on the hill is secure, the moon rises and spreads its strength out and the trees reach up to the sky.’

INA CARLA CIERNIAK

Ina Carla Cierniak is a Hamburg-based artist whose vibrant, expressive paintings blend abstraction and figuration with a strong emotional presence. She works with a mix of media – including acrylics, oils, pastels, charcoal, and pencil – on raw canvas, using layered techniques to create luminous, textured surfaces.

Her process is intuitive and unplanned, allowing shapes and elements to emerge organically. Themes of light, connection, and femininity run through her art, which radiates a sense of joy, freedom, and trust in the present moment. Each piece invites viewers to pause, feel, and reconnect with themselves and the world around them.

STEPHANIE BING
@ninibing34

Based in Germany, Stephanie Bing’s interiors blend classical perspective with vibrant colours and layered compositions. Featuring playful juxtapositions of elements like fish, leopards, and ceramics, her works are crafted into luxurious, jewel-box-like settings. She uses old master glazing techniques to enhance the depth and vibrancy of her pieces, creating a personal sense of freedom in her creative process.

ANN PALMER

Ann Palmer creates expressive paintings of land, sea, and sky using oils and mixed media. Her recent work captures the shifting tides, changing weather, and atmosphere of different times and seasons. Working intuitively with brush, line, and palette knife, she builds richly textured surfaces where colour and form often move toward abstraction.

Her latest paintings reflect a more expressionist approach, inspired by time spent in the Loire Valley and Cornwall. Sketching outdoors and collaging in her sketchbook, she develops larger works that explore memory, place, and the emotional essence of the landscape.

‘My work reflects a desire to capture perspectives that inspire introspection and connection. Through minimalism and the subtle tension of space, I aim to evoke the unspoken depth and quiet beauty of the world around us.’
