FEATURED ARTISTS

GUISEPPE MARZANO

Giuseppe Marzano (from Italy) was born in Milan 1976. He studied Art at the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna and at the Central Saint Martins University of the Arts in London, where he currently lives. He holds a degree in Art Conservation.
His work combines the influence of Urban Landscape with Abstract Expressionism through the use ofdifferent media.

Throughout his work, layers of bold colours give shape to familiar elements. These are often cut and reduced into fragments and pieces (of canvas) outlined with copper wires, commonly known for its conductivity properties and metaphorically used by the artist to highlight a detail and to create a figurative link with the viewer.

MEL SEWELL SIGVALDI

Mel Sewell Sigvaldi (from UK) has been shooting black and white landscapes for some years, but in the past three years, he has been concentrating on Iceland, the Badlands of South Dakota and the Lake District. At the same time he has been investigating many of the world's problems, which initially began with understanding the world's water shortages. This led to looking at crop failures, pollution, oil, and population explosion. It soon became apparent that the world was in crisis with many of the resources needed to sustain human life likely to be at crisis point, oractually running out within the next 80 years. In his course of investigation, Mel met up with Kiara Windrider who gives workshops on peace and understanding and who had written an epoch-making book called Year Zero. This book bringsinto focus all the reasons why the world is in the state it is in and what we can do to deal with it (on a personal basis). From a perspective of photographing stunning landscapes for posterity his direction of photography now has an added dimension - to awaken humanity to the crisis in powerful visual transformations of landscapes. This is not how the landscapes actually are, but how they could be at Armageddon.

FEEDBACK FROM OUR EXHIBITORS:

'I wish to say a big thank you for all the help and consideration I received yesterday evening when my husband and I delivered my various paintings to the Annexe.
It is a wonderful fresh space and everyone's work should look magnificent in there. I feel that great care and considered attention was taken in the selection of the works to be shown - it is such an emotional business trying to select objectively your own work and so it was really wonderful having fresh eyes sort matters out for me - thank you so much.
